Fool ya thrice

October 21, 2008

I’ve spent the last few weeks reading through the thousands of articles on layoffs, firings, cutbacks and shrinking going on in web-based companies. People seem so surprised. Everyone forgot that this happened before. When you have inflated value, eventually it deflates (if you’re lucky, and live in the magical universe of Thangdalia) and bursts (if you live in reality, with the rest of us).

The real bummer, is that due to the current financial crisis, this will happen again in five to ten years. See, now there’s a convenient scape goat, “oh dude, that company didn’t work because, like, the Economy went to shit, and it failed,” instead of the more stable, and less completely retarded “maybe we should stop starting companies without a clear plan to generate revenue.”

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.
Fool me thrice, squeeze my balls until I pass out and choke to death on my own vomit.

Of course, I wasn’t fooled even the first time, so the real question is, whose balls do I get to squeeze?
